We took a small break from the wedding schedule to welcome the Middletown Garden Club to the Barns at Wesleyan Hills this past week. What a perfect venue for a flower and art show celebrating Connecticut's Barns and Farms!

Our great friend Patsy Hofher painted the picture of the Barns at Wesleyan Hills depicted on the cover of the show program. Patsy has offered to hang the original painting on our Highland Avenue Showroom ... thanks Patsy!

We enjoyed the opportunity to partner with NPR's Faith Middleton and Lyman Farm to present this cool event! We are always excited to welcome the community into the facility. Many folks commented that they had not been into the Barn in the last 20 years .... and they sure were impressed with the changes and improvements we have made. We was no surprise as to why the Barns at Wesleyan Hills has become one of the most popular wedding venues in New England!

Gloria from Priam Vineyards came and did a tasting of her Salmon River Red and Salmon River White. This is the second event we have done with Gloria and she is a pleasure to work with. We are thinking of adding a wine tasting station to our wedding package ... any interest??

Patsy Hofher collected some serious ribbons ... she is a talented artist in addition to being a talented chef.

Couldn't ask for a better day to start the 2010 wedding season at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills! The weather was terrific ... 70 degrees and sunny ... I hope a sign of things to come!

Kathleen and Danny enjoyed a perfect springtime backdrop to their outdoor ceremony. We have the perfect opportunity to use our brand new outdoor ceremony chairs!

While I am here to sell stuff :) I think it's cool when family makes the wedding dessert. These cupcakes were all made with love by Kathleen's family ... and they were delicious!

Kathleen's family did the centerpieces as well and did a terrific job. They paired quite nicely with our new Fruitwood Chairs, String Lighting and white fabric. A very popular look this season.

Kathleen picked up her napkins from our new event planning and design studio at 430 Highland Avenue last week and hand tied these purple ribbons. I love this look.

Our new chairs look TERRIFIC in our space! (being half price (compared to last year) isn't so bad either ...

Kathleen and her family made these funky covers for our Brownstone seats. Another great idea and comfy!

What a better place to celebrate the natural beauty and bounty of Connecticut's Barns and Farms. We could not be happier that Lyman Orchards is being honored at this event. Cover art for the program was done by the super cool chef and artist Patsy Hoffer. Patsy has been a great friend of ours and we are looking forward to displaying her original work in our Highland Avenue Showroom.

The 2010 Bridal Show and Menu Tasting was a HUGE success! I want to extend a special "thank you" to our many Brides and Grooms who attended our show and to our vendor partners that help make this show possible. I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to our terrific culinary staff, bartenders, staff supervisors and servers for helping to make a great show for our customers!

Here is just some of the incredible feedback we have received:

"We had a fantastic time at the bridal show last weekend. Having that opportunity to meet with high quality vendors really saved a lot of time and legwork. Despite knowing each other since high school and becoming roommates during college, it wasn’t until Sarah and Eric graduated and moved back home with their parents (just blocks away from each other) that they started dating.

Eric proposed to an unsuspecting Sarah on Valentine’s Day with balloons, roses, earrings, a necklace, and finally, an engagement ring. After Sarah decided she wanted to throw a barn wedding, the two started scouring sites. After finding the perfect venue in Middletown, Connecticut, the two started planning their modern barn wedding for the following summer.

What a treat to open my email this afternoon and find a note from Kathleen and Robert Trenske. They photographed Valerie and Chris's Wedding at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills on October 24, 2009 and emailed me to let me know about the terrific images from this event they have on their blog.
Here is a little bit from Kathleen's post ... but I encourage you to click here to read the entire post.

"Since Valerie & Chris love the feel of a New England fall (they had originally thought about getting married in Vermont), The Barns at Wesleyan Hills was the perfect fit for the kind of rustic, romantic wedding they wanted. When we arrived at The Barns, the rain had finally decided to take a break just in time for some photos of Valerie & Chris and their bridal party. During the shots of just the two of them we incorporated a lot of the property, including some unexpected places (like a storm drain) and the more traditional spots ideal for showing off the foliage you can only get in this part of the country. When the rain really started to come down, Valerie & Chris stayed out in the rain for a bit with us (staying dry underneath one of the oversized golf umbrellas we always carry with us) to get a few rain shots. The reception kicked off shorty after that, with A Starry Night DJs playing plenty of Latin music to get this crowd moving. It seemed like almost every guest was jumping at the chance to dance with the bride and groom, wishes which they happily obliged. But they were never away from each other for very long, coming together at every chance to hold each other close and take in just how perfect their day turned out to be."

Food was excellent! Service was excellent! The Venue is AMAZING!! We were married 8/15/09 at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills - It is a beautiful location - and could not have been more perfect! I was trying to think of the perfect way to open this post about Heather and Josh ... but I don't think I could say it better than Sarah McCoy did here "Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Josh and Heather’s wedding at St. Vincent de Paul church in East Haven with a reception following at The Barns at Wesleyan Hills. The rain held out all day and it was a beautiful celebration for two genuinely compassionate, thoughtful, and loving people. I swear Heather must have asked me 30 times if I needed anything on her wedding day. But that’s just how she is, always thinking of others."

We danced through a few raindrops to get Bernie and Tamar's beautiful ceremony completed outdoors this afternoon .... but a few umbrellas and some high spirits were all that were needed. I always enjoy seeing a couple as obviously in love as Bernie and Tamar ... congratulations to you both!

This is really my all time favorite bridal getaway vehicle ... really ... how cool! I wish I knew the story behind it ... Bernie ... email me!

Love these black chairs ... a departure from our usual white and very well suited for our space. Hope we see more of these this season.

Holy cow!!! This looked like the most amazing party ever!! (if I do say so myself!!). Many thanks to you and your staff for the most incredible event that I have ever been involved with. I have worked with numerous venues and I can honestly say (not just because it was my son's Bar Mitzvah) that you have 'the total package'. Our friends and family are still raving about the event and were incredibly impressed with the location, the professionalism of the staff and the beyond delicious food. From the minute that guests arrived, every detail was attended to and the entire event from start to finish was seamless. Thank you for allowing our family to have such a spectacular event that left us with memories that will last a lifetime. Jason did not stop smiling the entire evening and as a parent, that's worth everything. I'm only sorry that we didn't get you on the mechanical bull!!! JDRF Denim Diamonds & Dreams for a Cure Gala

Pavilion Catering was proud to cater the 2009 Denim Diamonds & Dreams for a Cure Spring Gala for the Greater New Haven Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation the Barns at Wesleyan Hills this past Saturday.
Geoff Fox from WTNH News Channel 8 was the MC, our facility looked spectacular, the food was delicious (if I do say so myself) and the Gala raised a ton of money for a very good cause.
I would like to extend my personal thanks to Michelle Riley, the Executive Director of the Greater New Haven JDRF and the Dream Gala Committee. Michelle was an absolute pleasure to work with and her tireless effort and talent helped make our facility come alive for this special evening.
Despite the threat of rain, the weather was perfect!

Our patio tent was turned into a lounge and white was the color of the evening. Note the cool diamond projected on the tent ceiling.

Lindsay and Patrick enjoyed a small intimate wedding at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills this weekend. Their beautiful fabric and bright colors gave a much needed spring feel to the Barns at Wesleyan Hills ... welcome spring and congratulations Lindsay and Patrick!

Congratulations to "Cowboy J" and his entire family! We were honored to host his Bar Mitzvah celebration at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills on Saturday, April 4th ... and what a celebration it was! We had everything .... right down to the mechanical bull! Cowboy J's Mom is an accomplished event planner in her own right and did an incredible job .... I am honored to have now catered a second event for her family!

Soup Station included Vegan Chili, Chili Con Carne and Roasted Chicken and Tortilla Soup and was very popular on a chilly early April evening.

Loved the table numbers with the customized brand .... we used the branding iron to brand our artists palette, the slider buns and just about anything else we could find!

These wine barrells came right from Stonington Vineyard ... while they made fine cocktail tables, I imagine emptying them was the best part

Traci got the rare treat of "ringing the dinner bell" to invite guests to sit for dinner, a meal that included at duet entree featuring Texas Braised Beef Short Rib and Rum Soaked Fillet of Salmon.

As you might imagine, no BBQ would be complete without a selection of margaritas!

And I thought it would be difficult to get the staff into character ... I was wrong!

Yes, we did have a mechanical bull, provided by Boppers Entertainment ... and yes, it was every bit a much fun as it looks!

Note the 50 inch plasma tv's below .... if we could only figure out a way to have the UCONN Final Four game on .... hmmmm

Just got these killer new photos from Colleen and Bo ... how cool is it that they were kind enough to send them along ... thanks guys! As I sit here and write this on April 8 ... with snow flurries outside ... I am reminded that yes ... nice weather is on the way!

I wonder who is the Red Sox fan and who is the Yankee fan? October must be fun at their house!

The Barns at Wesleyan Hills is also a perfect spot for a corporate picnic. A local company celebrated today with a great band, full bar and delicious food! The managers even chipped in to help serve their employees and we all had a good laugh over the misspelling on the cake (no, Pavilion Catering did not provide the cake!)
