stumbled across this on a wedding blog

"So I got to googlin.’ I googled “midway between NYC and Boston” and came up with Middletown, Connecticut. Who knew that this was (kind of oddly) one of the wedding reception capitals of Connecticut, home to Pavilion Catering. I looked at a number of venues first, and then finally stumbled upon the one: The Barns at Wesleyan Hills.

Oh my stars.
"

Wedding reception capitol of Connecticut?? On my stars is right!

A celebration of Connecticut Barns and Farms

We took a small break from the wedding schedule to welcome the Middletown Garden Club to the Barns at Wesleyan Hills this past week. What a perfect venue for a flower and art show celebrating Connecticut's Barns and Farms!

Our great friend Patsy Hofher painted the picture of the Barns at Wesleyan Hills depicted on the cover of the show program. Patsy has offered to hang the original painting on our Highland Avenue Showroom ... thanks Patsy!

We enjoyed the opportunity to partner with NPR's Faith Middleton and Lyman Farm to present this cool event! We are always excited to welcome the community into the facility. Many folks commented that they had not been into the Barn in the last 20 years .... and they sure were impressed with the changes and improvements we have made. We was no surprise as to why the Barns at Wesleyan Hills has become one of the most popular wedding venues in New England!

Gloria from Priam Vineyards came and did a tasting of her Salmon River Red and Salmon River White. This is the second event we have done with Gloria and she is a pleasure to work with. We are thinking of adding a wine tasting station to our wedding package ... any interest??

Patsy Hofher collected some serious ribbons ... she is a talented artist in addition to being a talented chef.

Here are some of my favorites from the flower and art show. Enjoy!

I was surfing the web when

I discovered that the super cool Tina Parsadanov from Studio Blue Photography has chosen the Barns at Wesleyan Hills for her very first Vendor Spotlight on her blog! How cool is that? Thanks Tina!
I have copied the post below ...

Vendor Spotlight: The Barns at Wesleyan Hills
posted by Tina Parsadanov under Vendor Spotlight on 01 Feb 2010

Studio Blue has had the honor and privilege this past season of working with the amazing people at the Barns at Wesleyan Hill. What a unique and earthy and rustic spot that just screams AMAZING! We had to put them up as our first “vendor spotlight”. If you are thinking about reception sites, be sure to check them out. If rustic isn’t quite your thing, they own and operate other local venues that each have a different style. Here is what they have to say about the barns:

“Imagine yourself exchanging vows in front of our gorgeous willow trees and dancing the night away on our authentic 140 year old Chestnut floors… Your wedding at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills will be quite extraordinary! The experts agree… The Barns at Wesleyan Hills is simply the most unique venue for weddings in all of Connecticut. Your ceremony and pictures will be breathtaking at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills… Enjoy our seven acres including sprawling lawns, beautiful ponds with a fountain, and islands connected by white bridges. Best of all … there is no extra fee to host a ceremony at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills! We cater to just one event per day and weekend rentals are available… so you will always have privacy and plenty of time to celebrate! We would love to show you all of the ways that we can help you celebrate at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills. Please call us today at 860-347-7171 to email today to schedule a tour and consultation. “

Congratulations Kathleen and Danny!

Couldn't ask for a better day to start the 2010 wedding season at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills! The weather was terrific ... 70 degrees and sunny ... I hope a sign of things to come!

Kathleen and Danny enjoyed a perfect springtime backdrop to their outdoor ceremony. We have the perfect opportunity to use our brand new outdoor ceremony chairs!

While I am here to sell stuff :) I think it's cool when family makes the wedding dessert. These cupcakes were all made with love by Kathleen's family ... and they were delicious!

Kathleen's family did the centerpieces as well and did a terrific job. They paired quite nicely with our new Fruitwood Chairs, String Lighting and white fabric. A very popular look this season.

Kathleen picked up her napkins from our new event planning and design studio at 430 Highland Avenue last week and hand tied these purple ribbons. I love this look.

Our new chairs look TERRIFIC in our space! (being half price (compared to last year) isn't so bad either ...

Kathleen and her family made these funky covers for our Brownstone seats. Another great idea and comfy!

Catering Manager and Newlywed herself Traci Maune confering with our newest team member Amy Scrivens. We are thrilled to have Amy on board. Her experience at the Wadsworth Mansion and her love of weddings is sure to make her a favorite with our current and future clients. If you would like to reach out and welcome Amy, you can email her at amy@ctweddinggroup.com.

Spring is here and that mean the start of the 2010 wedding season! With over 70 weddings booked at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills this spring, we are super excited to see the season start! Congratulations to everyone celebrating at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills this year ... we are in for a terrific season!

sure signs of springtime

Middletown Garden Club's Annual Gala to be held at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills!

The Barns at Wesleyan Hills salutes its authentic past by hosting the Middletown Garden Club's Annual Gala in April 2010! What a better place to celebrate the natural beauty and bounty of Connecticut's Barns and Farms. We could not be happier that Lyman Orchards is being honored at this event. We are also looking forward to hanging out with NPR's Faith Middleton.

Cover art for the program was done by the super cool chef and artist Patsy Hoffer. Patsy has been a great friend of ours and we are looking forward to displaying her original work in our Highland Avenue Showroom.

2010 Bridal Show and Menu Tasting!

The 2010 Bridal Show and Menu Tasting was a HUGE success! I want to extend a special "thank you" to our many Brides and Grooms who attended our show and to our vendor partners that help make this show possible. I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to our terrific culinary staff, bartenders, staff supervisors and servers for helping to make a great show for our customers!

Here is just some of the incredible feedback we have received:

"We had a fantastic time at the bridal show last weekend. Having that opportunity to meet with high quality vendors really saved a lot of time and legwork. Not only did the buffet confirm our suspicions that the catering will be great and the cake delicious, but we were also able to book our photographer, DJ, and florist all in the same day. This event turned wedding planning headaches into a fun way to spend the day, and has added another great experience to our wedding process."

and

"We just wanted to take a moment to thank you for organizing such a terrific bridal show. We had a great time today and enjoyed having the opportunity to taste some of your wonderful offerings! The professionalism of the staff was very apparent and their positive energy was contagious. We are really looking forward to celebrating our special day with you this coming August."

Here are some "show plates" from the event.

Chicken Roulade filled with Spaghetti Squash

Filet of Sole Pavilion. Scallop and crabmeat stuffing, lobster sauce.

Stuffed Pork Loin, Lyman Orchards Apples and sage.

Butternut Squash Ravioli

Apricot Salmon with Pineapple Salsa

Chocolate fountains are a delecious and fun upgrade to your reception package.

Wedding cakes through Pavilion Catering are easy, beautiful and delicious. Contact your event planner today to add a cake to your reception package.
